8 Tips for Taking Your Kids to Disney World and Living to Tell About It!

Ahhhh… Disney World, the happiest place on earth. As a HAPI company, we know a lot about happiness while traveling. So if you’re thinking about heading to Florida to get your dose of family fun, we’ve compiled a list of helpful tips to make sure your vacation is everything you imagined.

1. Don’t forget to make a reservation.

To enter the park, everyone 3 and up will need a park reservation and valid admission. These must be for the same park on the same date. Prior to purchasing tickets (check HAPI Travel for savings on tickets), be sure to view theme park reservation availability online.

2. Download the My Disney Experience app.

With the help of the app’s Disney Genie service, you can create a personalized itinerary based on your interests, track wait times, mobile orders, and more.

3. BOYB. Sort of.

You can bring food and nonalcoholic drinks into Disney World theme parks and water parks as long as it doesn’t need heating, refrigeration, etc. Wine may be brought to Disney Springs at select table services. See full rules here →

4. Check the weather.

Staying in Florida? The weather can change on a dime, so be prepared by downloading the weather app on your smart phone.

5. Bring your phone, power bank, and charger.

We know, you’re there to connect with your family. However, you’ll want to be able to …

  1. mobile order,
  2. make reservations
  3. check wait times
  4. get Lightning lane entrances
  5.  … and more through the app.

6. Just take the essentials.

According to WeirdDisney.com, around 18,000 hats, 6,000 cell phones, and 7,500 autograph books are lost each year. So if you’re headed to the park, leave anything you don’t need at the hotel. Then get a locker for your essentials, or keep them safe with a lanyard or backpack.

7. Have a plan.

It goes without saying traveling with kids needs to be fluid. After all, meltdowns can happen at any time. Knowing ahead of time which parks and rides you want to hit is important. Then see about investing in Genie+ for zipping through lines. Just make sure you reserve your time slot in advance.

8. Have a back up plan.

No one wants to think about getting separated from their family. However, in the event you can’t find your child or anyone else in your group, make sure you talk about an emergency plan just in case. From a special meeting spot to helping your children determine who a trusted adult is, you’ll be glad you did.
