Innovative Packing Hacks

Whether it’s a short getaway or a luxurious dream vacation, traveling means living out of a suitcase. However, with these travel hacks, no one has to know—and you may just save enough space to avoid checking an extra bag.

1. Try travel cubes.

Not only do these help to keep you organized but there are tons of features like compression zippers for space-saving options that help keep clothes from wrinkling, waterproof materials to keep your belongings dry, clear designs for easy viewing, and multiple size options for carry-ons and checked luggage.

Using travel cubes for your carry-on? Make sure to keep any laptops, tablets, and e-readers in an easy-to-access location so they are easy to separate when going through the security checkpoint at airports.

2. Place shoes in disposable shower caps.

We love this travel hack from Self.com, that recommends bringing disposable shower caps, which many times you can get free at hotels. Thanks to their thin design, they are perfect for keeping dirt, smells, and grime off your clothing.

To make the most of your space on your way to your destination, store clean socks inside. On your return trip, store dirty socks.

3. Pack an extra sunglass case.

Have an extra eyeglass case? These are perfect for storing charging cables and cords. You can even use a bread tie to keep them from tangling. Or, use them for eye masks and ear plugs or headphones that you may want for the plane ride.

4. Roll your clothes.

You don’t have to love tidying up to appreciate Marie Kondo and her KonMari  Method of folding to see that it’s a useful, space-saving way to pack clothes. Not only will it help you make the most of your suitcase space, but it’s also helpful in seeing at a glance your clothing options and helping to prevent wrinkles.

5. Keep it fresh!

To keep things from smelling musty or sweaty, add dryer sheets to your suitcase or travel cubes. Other ideas include sneaker balls, hanging car air fresheners, cedar chips, lavender, essential oils, and fabric sprays like Febreeze. You can also use a mesh bag for sweaty clothes and shoes.
